I REALLY desired to like this shaver. I have been shaving since 1955, & have had everything from an Eversharp Shick Electric Razor to the first two-rotor blade Norelco to a Panasonic that was a wet/dry (which sounds like a Hoover in more ways than). My most recent electric was bought about twenty years ago, & Philips Norelco is a Braun which is all I can compare to this Norelco 1150. Overall, the cost of blade shaving has been a bit higher because of the cost of blades (it is much like color printers & ink), but of the instructions on the Norelco box was to replace the shaving head three times a year. In the area of cost, the edge - so to speak - goes to blades depending on how hard a beard you have & how often you require to shave & change blades.
